WHAT'S YOUR BAG?

NOTE: PLEASE OVERLOOK  PROBLEMS
WITH FONT AND COLOR ISSUES!

I must admit that I fell prey to the designer handbag
craze in the '70s. I was a young mother with two young boys at that time.

I asked my husband to get the designer handbag for my Christmas gift. I wrote down the name "Aigner" for him on

paper so would have it in his wallet.
I didn't trust him to go shopping without
it. He called me at worked and he
sounded anxious. He asked me if I
realized that the "Aigner" handbag
cost $100! I answered in a soft voice, "Yes".  He said "Ok" and pointed out
this would be my only Christmas gift.
I said that this was fine since we still
had the boys Christmas gifts to buy.

My 70's handbag looked like this!

I carried this handbag every day.

I broke the handle on this bag
2 months later. I was very upset
and was almost in tears. A co-worker
calmed me down and told me what to
do. She said that these expensive bags could be replaced if I had the receipt.
No way, was I going to ask my husband
for the receipt. He would ask too many questions. Thank God, the department store where he bought it was great.
They let get a new handbag since it
was a gift. I only carried this handbag
to church after this incident.

Now popular designer handbags can

cost over $300! My old handbag looks
worn out now. I'm retired and a widow now. I  refuse to pay $300 for a handbag! I'd rather spend $300 on a day trip with
my friends!

I have found used designer handbags

at my thrift stores. I also went to a
great sale at my favorite department
store. They had designer handbags less than $100. The brand names they carried were not the popular ones that I've seen online. So, what! I bought a nice handbag that had black and brown trim on it. It could be worn with black or brown
shoes. I was happy!

Here are some brands that were

a great buy:
