  I loved viewing florist websites as a way to relax after work. One day I saw a display of kissing balls. Some of them were round, covered in flowers. A few were even shaped like animals.  A lot of faux flower blooms,  foam,  and  glue  were required. I was inspired by the kissing ball crafts. I even made several for my  friend's tables for their rainbow tea parties. A few years later, I lost interest in the kissing balls.  I saw designs for corsages to give as gifts to people for birthdays, weddings, and proms. I discovered that corsages were nice to wear for other occasions. I could make corsages for my Mom and me to wear  during  the Easter holiday. I thought that I might make corsages for the Mothers at my church. I abandoned this idea because the names on my list of Mothers grew to over twenty. I usually visit a Dollar Store weekly. My local store adds new merchandise every Monday. I wait until Tuesday to visit this store. By this time the aisles are free if clutter. The new items are on display at the front of the store.  The Easter display featured boxes of mini pastel trees. The trees is were in colors, pink, purple, and yellow, according to picture on the boxes. I quickly grabbed a purple tree.  I searched for mini ornaments. There were only multicolored mini egg ornaments in stock. Shades of purple ribbon was available. There were no mini tree skirts in stock.  Earlier in the year, fabric swatches were available.  The  store had shades of purple in bundles.  These swatches would make pretty mini tree skirts. They had  removed their fabric to make  room for Easter Decor. Mini  Easter lights were available but, I didn't  buy  them. I decided that lights and ornaments  on  this mini tree would be too dramatic. ...

  I  was looking  online for ideas for my Easter projects.   I kept wondering why I was seeing so many bunnies,  ducks, and chicks in the crafts.  I realized I forgot  to specify religious Easter crafts. There were a lot of unique  decorated crosses . I made decorated  crosses for Christmas stocking stuffers. A few of  them  were left over. They may be placed in  my  family's Easter baskets.  I got great ideas for a  few floral arrangements. A few of  the Easter Resurrection gardens had unique additions  and  embellishments that  really made them  look more authentic. My mother used to buy small chocolate crosses each  Easter holiday. This chocolate cross  was sealed and  attached  to a card with an Easter greeting. Each child  received  one of these crosses in their Easter basket.  I carried  on the tradition. My two boys received a  chocolate  cross  in their Easter basket. I explained  what the  cross symbolized. I encouraged them to  save the  cross and use it as a reminder to pray daily.  Of  course, this  message was useless to them. I   became a bargain hunter by accident. A friend of  mine asked me  to go to lunch with her. She took me  to the Thrift Store .  I said  that this didn't look like  a fast food place. This is where she came  when she  needed a cheap new outfit. My friend was a  true   Fashionista . All her clothes looked beautiful and  expensive.  I thanked her for sharing her secret.  She trained me well. We  went bargain hunting  once  a month.  This store received most of their items from wealthy   people who were moving or redecorating.  They also  had new items that  were  close-outs and  overstocks.   I started shopping at Thrift Stores on  the weekend.  Being  retired has been a gift to me.   I discovered years ago its a good idea check  children's  craft websites. They have a lot of creative and economical craft ideas. Of course, I embellish the craft project, so that it appeals to adults.  One of the craft projects on my favorite children's site used  recycled egg cartons . The teacher made  the egg  carton into a cross. I stopped discarding  my egg  cartons. I collected twenty colored egg   cartons.  I made them into crosses and gave  them as gifts  for Easter. My friends and family  members  really liked the crosses. They displayed  them  every Easter holiday. The crosses finally fell  apart  a  few years later, so they requested new ones.
