CHRISTMAS IN PURPLE!

Image
I've have suddenly become obsessed with purple! It began innocently after  I retired a few years ago! I even wanted purple hair but was too chicken to try it!!  I am on the hunt for a mixed purple and grey wig! I haven't been too successful find purple clothes that I like.  My goal for the new year is finding  fashionable purple clothes!  I have to buy a new Christmas tree this year.  I discovered that my dog Milo chewed off  the plug connections for  my old pre-lit tree.  I thought he was just having fun playing with  the  branches! I realized that getting a new Christmas tree  wasn't a bad thing. This would be my chance  to try a PURPLE CHRISTMAS TREE!   I have  pitched all of my traditional red and green  Christmas ornaments and plan  to donate them.  I went to my local stores looking for a purple  Christmas tree but was unsuccessful! The store clerks told me that colored Christmas  trees were the  trend three years ago!  I had to settle for a tradit

THIS SENIOR LADY USES GOOD TOOLS!

Image
http://clipart-library.com I realized that a lot of my senior lady friends have  stopped cooking meals. They live alone and  their grown children have left home.  They longer desire to prepare a full course meal and prefer to "eat out". I still like to cook sometimes and treat my friends  to brunch once or twice a year. I like to cook breakfast for them because it does not require as much work as a  dinner meal. Regardless of what I am cooking, I need quality  kitchen gadgets and tools. The grip in my hands is not as good as it once was.  My son told me, that it was dangerous for me to keep using dull kitchen knives. He said that a dull knife and a weak grip was not a good combination. He also noticed  my messy cuts of meat at the dinner table.  My son's hobby is making custom  made knives for hunting and  construction.  He has  also started  offering a new service-  knife sharpening.  He has met men  who upholster car seats and  furnitur

HOLIDAY GREETING!

I JUST WANT TO BE COOL!

Image
Tokkoro.com It has been too hot this summer!  The temperature has soared past ninety for the past 2 weeks. My container gardens are flourishing, Thank God! They  love the sun and heat if I keep them  watered twice a day!  I am loving my air conditioner so,  I get back home from running errands as so as possible. This hot weather made me recall an argument  me and my mom have had for years.  Which is  cooler in the summer dresses or shorts? I say it depends! The fabric, color,  and style of the  dress is important.  The dress must be made from  cotton gauze,  rayon, or cotton blend fabric. I say yes, dresses are cooler. I know the crinkle gauze dress has a wrinkled look. But the dresses are dainty and feminine so I overlook the crinkles.   A lot of my friends like linen but I don't. It's hard to keep from looking like a rumpled mess. I don't like to iron clothes.  Linen clothes  require some touch up if you want a crisp look. Linen fabric has

TRENDY & COOL SENIOR LADY!

Image
hip2save.com I did the "Big Chop" to my hair years ago. A hot summer and experiencing menopause at the same time did me in! I  got relief by cutting my hair short, wearing cotton summer dresses, and  lounging in rooms  with plenty of air conditioning.  The trauma of menopause is over but I still hate  feeling hot.  I'm still wearing my short afro  hairstyle because it's cool and very low maintenance.   A great sulfate-free shampoo/conditioner and hair gel are all I need. Here are my go-to hair products: https://www.amazon.com I stopped using hair dye a few years ago. I have learned  to love my salt and pepper shade of grey! Who knew that grey hair would be a current trend! I guess I am a Trendy  Senior Lady!! Especially Yours . Sometimes I get bored with this  Afro  hairsyle.  That's why I fell in love with the Taper Style hair cut. I got  frustrated with finding a dependable barber stylist.  I le

ENJOYING NATURE IN MY YARD!

MY CONTAINER GARDEN I love spring and summer because I can sit on my porch and enjoy a quiet moment or two.   I get up before my family arises and the rat race begins.  My first cup of coffee goes down so smooth and I can sip as loud as I want. There are two  doves sitting on the power lines in front of my house. They visit often and  I have named them Abraham and Sarah. I have already put out my hummingbird feeder which  I  have filled with sugar water.  I used to buy that red stuff until I read it was bad for the hummingbirds.  The author stated that the red dye  that was  added to attract these  birds was harmful to them.  I started making  my own formula: 1/2 cup spring water  1/8 cup  sugar (heaping) I like to buy the mini feeders because  I can replenish them before the sugar solution spoils.  They are also easier to clean.  The package also includes a wire hook which I insert  inside my flower pot. The hummingbirds fight a lot
