SENIOR LADY: CHRISTMAS PROJECTS! #4

I have  been collecting white water bottle caps for the last three years.  I felt a tinge of guilt every time I threw empty water bottles in the  recycle bin. A true crafter,
knows there must be a craft idea waiting for all these
bottle caps.

A thorough search at online craft sites, did solve my dilemma. The water bottle caps could be made into planters and bowls. A lot of them were painted and
used as embellishments.

I was inspired by the craft that used the bottle caps to
embellish a wreath. Here are the details for my
bottle cap project:

NEED:

LARGE CARDBOARD, 12 INCH SQUARE
VINYL RECTANGULAR TABLE CLOTH, RED
VINYL RECTANGULAR TABLE CLOTH, GREEN
19-20 WHITE PLASTIC BOTTLE CAPS
PACK, RED & GREEN BUTTONS, 130 COUNT
GREEN \ RED PLAID RIBBON:
5\8 INCH X 144 INCH

TOOLS ( NOT SHOWN):

SCISSORS (Large, Sharp)
GLUE GUN & GLUE STICKS
RULER

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut cardboard into round 12 inch wreath form. Cut
7 inch center hole (Save center piece for another craft). Cut 2- 6 inch strips from end of table cloths. Should have 2 red strips & 2 green strips.  Wide strips are necessary since they'll be folded.

Fold strip in half , wrap one side of the wreath form with the red strips. Wrap other side with the green strips. Count out 19 caps.

Use hot gun to attach caps ( upside down) around the wreath at 2 inch intervals.

Place red buttons inside caps, on green strips. Place green buttons inside caps on red strips. Measure
enough ribbon to make 4 loop bow. Cut 18 inch
piece of ribbon for the tail. Cut 14 inch piece of
ribbon for hanger. Fold ribbon in half then glue
it  to back center area of wreath.

This wreath was fun to make. Children would enjoy
placing buttons inside of the plastic caps. I need to
save more plastic caps from my water bottles.

Remembering to save more of my large cardboard
boxes in the future. This was my first time using
cardboard as a wreath form. Large sharp scissors
are required to cut the cardboard into a circle.
I may start using cardboard wreath forms for other
Holiday wreath projects.

TIPS:

**Some Dollar Stores have flat cardboard mailing
boxes. They can be used for wreath forms.

** Christmas colored small beads & gems can also be used to embellish the plastic caps.

**Plastic table cloths come is assorted colors. Perfect
for wrapping Holiday theme wreaths. Holiday colored buttons, gems, or beads can be used with the plastic caps too.
