SENIOR LADY: RESURRECTION GARDEN PROJECT!

was looking  online for ideas for my Easter projects.

I kept wondering why I was seeing so many bunnies,

ducks, and chicks in the crafts.  I realized I forgot

to specify religious Easter crafts. There were a lot

of unique  decorated crosses. I made decorated

crosses for Christmas stocking stuffers. A few of

them were left over. They may be placed in my

family's Easter baskets. I got great ideas for a

few floral arrangements. A few of the Easter

Resurrection gardens had unique additions

and  embellishments that really made them

look more authentic. I bookmarked some of

the gardens  for inspiration.  I needed to go

shopping for materials for a Resurrection

garden. My local stores didn't have clay trays

to use for the garden scene. They did have a new

supply of stones and other mini garden supplies.

Using these supplies to create an empty cave would

be challenging.  Here are the details for my Easter

 project.

EASTER RESURRECTION GARDEN:

Need:

(1) Jot Cork Bulletin Board, 10 inch

(2) Bags Dark Green Reindeer Moss, 0.39 L

(12) 4.5 Inch Craft Sticks

(12) 3 Inch Craft Sticks, for Bridge, Optional

Piece of Corrugated Cardboard,

(1) 10 Inch

Spool, 2 mm Natural Brown Jute Twine

3-4 Faux Greenery Stems

TOOLS:

Glue Gun & Glue Sticks

Scissors

Floral Stem Cutters

Pack 5 inch Emery Boards

INSTRUCTIONS:

Remove wrapper from the bulletin board. Cut

10 inch cardboard to 5 inches long & 5 inches

wide. Save extra cardboard for cave door. Roll

up cardboard to look like a cave.

Leave a opening for mouth of the cave. Glue the ends

together.   Add cave, seam side down onto middle of

board. Glue in place. Glue the moss over the top &

sides of the cave.  Cut circle from excess cardboard,

to create cave door. Put coat of clear acrylic on front

of cave door. Let dry.  Glue door near opening of cave.

Cut greenery to 4 inches & arrange to desired

design. Add them to right side of cave & push

ends of stems threw cork.

Assemble 3 crosses from 6 craft sticks; 1 larger &

2 smaller. Used 2- 4 inch sticks for larger

cross.  Cut other sticks to 3 inches for smaller

crosses. Use Emery Boards to file raw edges

smooth. Glue crosses together.  Wrap jute cord

around center of each cross for rustic look.

( See image below for cross design). On left side

of board, glue larger cross down first. Add smaller

crosses in a row behind it. I used broken sticks to

anchor crosses for stability.

Glue small stones  on surface of board. Leave a

2 1\2  inch space in front of cave, if you want mini

bridge added.  Be careful & try not to disturb the

scenery when adding stones.

Mini bridge: Cut 8 sticks to 2 inches. File raw edges

smooth.  Save leftover  pieces of sticks. Lay sticks

side by side, vertically & glue them together ( see image

below for bridge design).Let dry.  Glue 2 sticks on back

top section of bridge. One on left side & one on right

side. Repeat process on bottom of bridge. Glue the

bridge in front of cave, near opening.

My Resurrection Garden turned out great. I was

worried about using the cork board.  The octagon

shape of the board gave the garden an unique design.

TIPS:

**Use 5 inch clay colored pot for cave.
**9-10 clay colored planter tray for garden
**Any mini faux greenery or shrubs for garden
**4-5 inch Rock or Stone for cave opening.
**Sticks\ Twigs for crosses.
