DIY BEAUTY, LIP GLOSS

There was an advantage to working with
young women before I retired.  Some of
then knew the best beauty tips and tricks.
I would of try them out if I thought  they 
were age appropriate for me.  Here are 
some DIY lip glosses I have made. The
web sites I have also included have DIY
recipes for lip gloss.

DIY BERRY FLAVOR LIP GLOSS

1 pack favorite flavor drink mix
petroleum jelly
empty recycled container
( mint tin or juice  bottle cap)
small recycled mixing  container
disposable gloves
old newspaper or towel

Prep your work surface with newspaper or 
old towel. In a micro-wave safe container, 
heat jelly until melted. Jelly will be very hot
BE CAREFUL!  Carefully remove melted jelly 
and  add drink mix until you get the desired
shade you like. I wear disposable gloves to 
avoid getting stained hands.  Stir and mix
until drink mix has completely dissolved. 
Fill up your container and let lip gloss cool. 

TIP:  

Save the caps off my 64 oz bottles of juice
or save my mint tins  to use for 
my lip gloss.

Use pre-sweetened  drink mixes if think lip
gloss is too tart!

cocoa powder
petroleum jelly
empty recycled container
( mint tin or juice  bottle cap)
small recycled mixing  container
disposable gloves
old newspaper or towel

Prep your work surface with old newspaper
or old towel. In a micro-wave safe container, 
heat jelly until melted. Jelly will be very hot
BE CAREFUL!  Carefully remove melted jelly 
and add cocoa  until you get desired shade
of brown.  I wear gloves to avoid getting 
stained hands. Stir and mix until the drink
mix has completely dissolved.  Fill up your 
container and let lip gloss cool. 

TIP:

Substitute ground cinnamon, allspice, or pumpkin
pie spice for cocoa

Do you ever have broken lip stick  Do you
have unused lipstick in the bottom of your
tube?  This problem can be solved if you
make it into lip gloss.

REPURPOSE  UNUSED LIPSTICK

broken lipstick
petroleum jelly
empty recycled container
(mint tin or juice bottle cap)
small recycled mixing  container

old newspaper or towel


Prep your work surface with old newspaper
or old towel.  Use a knife (plastic knife ok)
to cut  lipstick into small pieces. In a micro-
wave safe container,  heat jelly until melted. 
Jelly will be very hot-BE CAREFUL!Carefully
remove melted jelly and add the lipstick.Stir
until mixture well blended. Pour into your
tin and let the lip gloss cool.

TIP: IF HAVE UNUSED LIPSTICK IN 
BOTTOM OF TUBE, REMOVE IT AND 
FOLLOW THE SAME INSTRUCTIONS.

I was sitting on my deck today when I saw a hummingbird buzzing around my plant with
small red flowers.  I was so glad to see him
that I stopped talking on my cell phone.  I
thought is was too early for them.  I rushed
to the store and purchased a  feeder and a
bag of sugar.

Kings, so it is appropriate for to
show purple majesty.  The Bible 
book of Acts 16 tells us about
purple cloth  being  sold by a 
woman named Lydia.The book
of Proverbs 31 says, "she wears
clothing made of linen and purple.

EASTER EGG DECOR

I enjoyed dyeing eggs for Easter
as much as my boys did.I told my 
boys that the Easter celebrations
was more than the egg coloring,
the egg hunt, and  the  baskets 
of candy. I told them that many
years ago the hard boiled egg 
had a special meaning.The hard
shell of the egg represented the
tomb Jesus was buried in.  The 
cracking of the egg was about 
Jesus' resurrection. The church
used to dye the eggs red to be
a symbol the blood of Jesus.

In the past I used vinegar and
bottles of food coloring. There
are many methods for coloring
eggs available now. Check out
some these methods:

New method for boiling eggs:

Gently place fresh eggs in a pot
of cold water. Completely cover 
the eggs with water.  Cook them
over medium high heat. Add 1/8 
tsp salt to the water and place lid
on the pot. When the water starts
to boil, turn off the heat.  Let the
eggs stay in the covered pot for
10 minutes. Be Safe: Keep eggs 
in refrigerator.

Egg test: 

Whirl it fast on a table. If it 
turns fast, it is hard boiled.
