MILO IS MY VALENTINE!

MILO WATCHING TRAFFIC GO BY!

NOTE:
PLEASE EXCUSE THE SYSTEM FONT PROBLEMS

My family has always owned medium-sized dogs. There was Mario, the male black Lab, Missy, the female Chow Chow, and Raja, the female Shepherd mix.  Missy, the female Chow Chow, and Raja, the female Shepherd mix.  My husband
and I were also the parents of two delightful boys. Our household couldn't contain dogs and two high-strung boys.
We struggled to maintain our sanity.
We fenced in our yard and put the dogs and the boys outside to play. Whew,
this was a great solution when the boys were growing up. Our dogs had a large custom made dog house and a huge yard to wrestle with my boys.

Raja with her smart self, lived to be
21 years old.  Raja was still living
when my grown children left home.
The Good Lord and Raja bought me comfort when my husband passed
away.  I moved her into the house
with me. She adjusted to being my
guard dog! I was very sad when Raja
died due to cancer in 2016. I tried

to find another German Shepherd
but none of the people or shelters
I contacted had any puppies available.

I was blessed because I happen to be
in the right place at the right time.
A young man was selling a Jackshund
puppy in the parking lot where I was shopping. This puppy was the last of
the litter and was a 12-pound
male.  He was too cute and instantly melted my heart.
I named this little guy Milo. Boy, did I
get a reality check. Raja was so smart
that she hit me with her paw when she needed to potty. She also knocked on
the door when she wanted to come
inside.  I had to start all over
again with new puppy vet care, potty training, and obedience training.
Milo adjusted to the potty training
pretty quick. He has the personality
of a Jack Russell Terrier and has a Dachshund body.  I wasn't ready for

the lapdog thing since I had 40-50
pound dogs in the past. I have learned
to enjoy this lap dog. The problem is,
he thinks, Milo's way or the highway!
I couldn't believe that a little dog could
be so pushy! He destroys chew toys and only wants to play fetch 24 hours a day.
He keeps throwing the ball at my
feet and growls at me when I won't play! He loves to sit on the deck, rain or shine!  He only loves my family- Visitors beware!

My son was visiting a friend recently.
The neighbor next door owned three
dogs: 2 Jack Russel Terriers and a
Jack Russell Terrier mix. My son
emailed  me this picture:

He said they were cute but growled until he went inside.
This neighbor deserves
my admiration. One Jackshund is enough for me to handle!

I'll be alone this Valentine's Day.
So, I guess Milo will be My Valentine.
I hope I can find heart-shaped
dog treats!

EVERYTHING BE MY VALENTINE! PART 3

My goodness, I just found out that the Senior Valentine Party that I want to attend requires people to wear business
casual attire!  My wardrobe has become mighty tired-looking since I retired.
I don't go out looking like a hag. But,
haven't updated anything in years.
I go to the same places most of the
time so I didn't see the need.  Well,
I feel the need to at least look for a
new blouse or tunic for this party.

I'll look online for ideas, then go to
the nearby department stores to
shop. I like red clothes is they have
a classic style. I loathe flashy
gaudy looking clothes. I realize what
seems flashy/gaudy to me, might look alright to someone else. I'll admit that
I have "old school" style taste. I don't
wear grandma jeans. But I don't wear
the skin-tight jeans like I see worn by young ladies at the mall!

I have finished my research online.
Here are some nice-looking red blouses and tunics I'll hunt for:

EVERYTHING BE MY VALENTINE, PART 3

I am trying to not procrastinate this time. I want to attend a Valentine Party for Seniors in style. I need
something red for my hair. I need hairstyle ideas too.

I am starting my search online by looking for ideas
on Women's Fashion magazine websites.

I want to find age-appropriate ideas that include
headbands, head wraps, and flowers. Here
are some ideas I have found so far:

EVERYTHING BE MY VALENTINE! PART 2

NOTE: PLEASE EXCUSE SYSTEM PROBLEM
WITH THE FONTS!

I am retired and have plenty of time on
my hands. I hate to admit that I didn't
I pay attention to the needs of others
when I was a young mother and wife.
devoted most of my time on caring
for my husband and children.

The Bible tells me to show love to my brethen. This year, I'm am trying to be more obedient. I plan to show more
compassion to others . I had noticed
that my Senior Lady friends who had
lost their husbands might have been dealing with loneliness. Some of them
had grown children that didn't have the time to visit very often.

I decided to treat my widowed friends
and mother on Valentine's Day this year.
My plan is to give them Valentine Day
gift bags. It will be just a little token to show them that they are my Valentine!!

I may include the following in the gift
bags:

Candy kisses, flavored swizzle sticks,
giant chocolate chip cookie, giant candy bar, trail mix, a small bag of mixed nuts,
or sugar-free gum.

I might also decide to make gift
bags or baskets. I am considering
the following items:

EVERYTHING BE MY VALENTINE, PART1

I fell in love with the color purple
last year. I didn't have a lot of luck finding purple clothes
that I liked. Apparently,  I wasn't
in a shopping mood. There are a
lot of purple lovers in the world!
I'll try again during the new year.

But, I had lots of luck finding purple ornaments and bows for my Christmas Tree. My green fir tree looked beautiful!

Now, I'm looking to break tradition and use the color purple for my Valentine's Day decor and gifts.

Here are some ideas I might use for
my purple Valentine's Day wreath for my doors:

I'll start looking for heart-shaped wreaths at my local dollar stores.
I may have to settle for marked down round wreaths.  I'll hot glue mini
hearts and cherubs on my wreaths
if heart-shaped wreaths are not available. I saw lots of heart-shaped wooden and slate hearts during
my weekly dollar store visit last week. Hopefully, the stock clerks have finished putting out the Valentine's
Day craft items. I should have success
finding enough purple at the nearby dollar and crafts stores next week.

HOLIDAY BREAKFAST BREAD!

My children are grown and I am retired. Therefore,  gourmet cooking is my new passion. I am a foodie who tries to cook some of the Mexican...
