MY COVID-19 DRESS CODE!

https://www.businessinsider.com

NOTE;
PLEASE OVERLOOK THE FONT ISSUES
ON MY BLOG!

I love wearing designer cologne, lipstick and nail polish. I know
I sound like a real DIVA. No,
I'm just a Senior Lady who likes to dress nice. I may even be somewhat fashion conscience. I decided in
March, 2020 to start wearing a mask.
I added the gloves after the number
of COVID-19 victims kept rising in my county.   Duh! It didn't enter my mind-
don't wear lipstick when wearing a mask. I had to wipe off my lipstick the first time I wore my mask.  I was able
to yank the mask off before it got stained with lipstick.

I like to wear nice wigs until the weather gets hot in May. Well,
I found out that some of my wigs
were not "mask friendly!" The only
wig that exposed my ears, was my
short pixie one.

I don't bother to dress up. Hey,
I'm wearing a mask and gloves.
Of course I maintain my hygiene.  There is no need to wear my fave
designer cologne since, I am using hand sanitizer. I had to switch to
anti-bacterial liquids when sanitizer was hard to find.  I have 90 % alcohol
to use as back -up.  All of this stuff smells loud and overpowers the
smell of my fragrance anyway.

I try to STAY HOME".  I only go out once a  week to grocery store, get gas,
or run errands.  I try to get everything done on this one shopping day.  I don't care if I look like grey haired Alein
from another planet. I don't care that
if I smell like Ms. Anti-bacterial rather than Ms. Gardenia. My goal is to "Stay Safe!"

I watch virtual church every Sunday.
I try to stay motivated. I dress up in my church attire, sit in a chair front of my computer, and take notes as I listen to my pastor's sermon.  I sing along with
the songs since the words to the songs are on the screen.  I  join in with the  chat group by greeting the church members.

My state recently relaxed some of
its COVID-19 rules. Our state is still getting new Virus victims!! I still see too many people not wearing a mask,
not wearing gloves, and not practicing social distancing!  I want to yell at people with children when neither of them has on a  mask. Will I ever  feel safe again?  Some people near me
in public are not being SAFE! I might still be wearing a mask and gloves in July!

I give Thanks to God daily because
I nor my family have contracted the Virus. I pray for healthcare
workers, victims with the Virus,
and for foolish people.

SEED STARTING SMARTS!

https://parkseed.com

Once I started container gardening,
I learned tricks to save money on
garden supplies.  I never discard the
pots and tubs my garden plants
come in. Years ago, garden plants
were mostly sold in black 6-pack  starter trays.  Then garden centers
cut the trays down to 4-packs. This
year, my garden plants were in
single white and black tubs holding
1 or 2 plants for $3.99! The customers complained so bitterly that cashier
got the manager to give us 2 tubs for
$5.  I was grateful for the price cut.

I am glad I started saving the black
trays a few years ago. They were
useful when I wanted to start my
seeds indoors. These trays made transplanting the seedlings easier
after the last winter frost.  Of course,
I am saving these white and black
tubs my $3.99 garden plants came in.
I sowed the seedlings from my Meyer
lemons in them.

I have so many empty
water bottles in my recycle bin.
started saving a few to water the seedlings. These plants are fragile
and a downpour from my watering
can might damage them. I just punched
three holes in the lid of the 16 oz
recycled water bottles. They were
filled with water from my rain barrel.
I was able to achieve a gentle water-
flow for the seedlings.  Making a
scoop from a 2-liter soda bottle
works great too.

Plastic bags from the grocery store can be used to cover-up the seed trays after you sow them.

https://www.gardeningknowhow.com

Discount stores' 9x13 baking pans
with the lids also make a cute greenhouse for sown seeds.

These recycled containers break
down and tear up after a while.
I just purchase 4 oz or 6 oz plastic
cups from my local discount store.
I just make holes in the bottom
of the cups before sowing the seeds.

Dollar store potting soil is great
for sowing seed.  The small space
gardener doesn't  need the 20 pound
bag of potting soil from the "big box"
stores.

SENIOR LADY, START A GARDEN!

MY CONTAINER GARDEN ON MY PORCH!

I am doing as my Governor asked. I am
following the " STAY AT HOME" order.
Some of us Seniors do not have a
relative or friend nearby to shop for us.
Thank God some stores got a bright idea. They have Senior early hours so we can shop in a lower risk environment.

I suggest that that you Senior Ladies,
go shop for garden supplies during
the early hours. The garden stores didn't close and garden plants and supplies are outside in the garden center. I consider this a lower risk place to shop.  Trust me, this will
be a rewarding endeavor if you
grow something! You are stuck
at home and you can walk in your
yard freely.

A lot of space isn't necessary when
you container garden! I placed my containers on my porch. My 87
year-old mother has tomatoes and cucumbers in 10-gallon buckets
outside of her back door. I have
even grown pickling cucumbers
in hanging baskets.

https://www.dollartree.com/

I started container gardening after my
local grocery store had a Recall on lettuce. I checked on YouTube and
E-how to see if lettuce was hard to
grow and maintain. I was shocked to discover that it is the easiest
plant to grow.  Lettuce has a small
root system so it can be grown in  plastic dishpans. I usually place
three lettuce plants per pan. There
are several varieties of lettuce to
choose from.  I usually have dish
pans for three kinds of lettuce.

https://www.homedepot.com

Just keep the lettuce watered and harvest the outside leaves. A word
of caution! lettuce doesn't like hot weather.  It will grow flowers (bolt)
and have a bitter taste. I bought a
sunblock shade cloth online to cover my lettuce. Your local garden center
may have shade cloth in stock. Using the shade cloth allows me to have lettuce all year long.

https://www.lowes.com

I have advanced a little bit. I have spinach and kale in plastic dishpans
too. These plants also like cool weather. I also grow herbs and grape tomatoes. One grape tomato plant in a bucket, in a sunny location, yields a bunch of tomatoes.

I think my neighbors are jealous.
They look puzzled when they
see me snip a bowl full of lettuce, spinach, and kale.

Here are links that lists what garden plants are great for containers:

ADVICE FROM SENIOR PARENTS WANTED!

https://www.hobbyfarms.com

PROVERBS  22: 6

Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

This Novel Coronavirus ( renamed COVID-19) has been a wake-up call
for a lot of young parents.

Senior women may be a grandparent. Thye may be more valuable to their grown children now. Some of my friends said their grown children
didn't want to hear their advice.
They said their advice was too harsh and antiquated.

Some Senior parents may not
want to babysit every day. They
may offer to relieve weary
parents for a few hours.  Their
grown children may be willing
to listen to their parental advice
now. They see that their new-aged parenting methods haven't always worked. They are stuck at home
with their children for several
hours. They realize they need
 "HELP "with their unruly children!

Schools and colleges closed earlier
than planned. They are spending
more time than they ever have with their children! Some college students may be at home now too.   Some of them may be grumpy because they
can't hang-out and party whenever
they want.

By now some parents want to escape somewhere. These parents are wondering who do these children belong to. They can't be mine. They have seen personality traits they
never knew existed. Some feel they
have raised brats who are rude, selfish, whiners who do not respect authority.

SENIOR LADY COVID-19 WISDOM!, #2

https://qns.com

NOTE: PLEASE OVERLOOK THE FONT ISSUES
MY SYSTEM IS HAVING!

It seems like each week we get new instructions about how people in the community should fight the COVID-19. I took a lot of their advice seriously.
I have gotten informative literature from my insurance company, watched videos on social media,
and listened to world news on the
T.V. I had to eventually use some
of my own ideas about fighting the "Virus"  which made sense to me!
I pondered this information and
added common sense to avoid
being confused.

I have changed my routine when
I go shopping and  changed
the way I clean the surfaces
in my home.

Here is what I do now:

I only leave my house to go to the pharmacy or to pick up emergency items like water, bread or toilet paper.
The Governor issued a "Stay at Home"  order. I would have stayed home more anyway because five people that I know are in quarantine! Thank God, I have not had physical contact with them since Christmas!

I started looking for 60 %-70%
alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
I used to grab any sanitizer I
could find and never looked
at the contents. I have bottles
of  hand sanitizers in the
bathrooms and at the kitchen.
I am mixing bleach with water and
pouring it in the bottles when
run out of sanitizer. I  use
disinfecting wipes on my keyboard.

I do not use the bathrooms in public places either!

I use my debit or credit card since cash money has always carried germs. I use my knuckles when doing my credit card transactions at the check-out counter in stores.

If anyone coughs or sneezes near me,
I wash my clothes with disinfectant when I get home.

I always believed I should wear
mask. Seeing people in Asian
countries wearing masks was impressive.  My son found some reusable priced masks
online and we received them within
2 weeks.  I'll admit that I wasn't wearing a mask in February.
No one in my state had the "Virus".
I realized wearing a mask was a good idea when several COVID-19 victims appeared in the county where
I lived.

I found disposable blue gloves at my local dollar store. I plan on wearing them when I leave my home.

I clean the door handle, steering
wheel, and gear stick in my truck
when I leave a store.

I clean the doorknobs on all of the doors in my home
( include the deadbolt locks too).
I also clean the refrigerator, microwave, and stove handles. Now
I include keyboards and light switches too.  There may be other surfaces
I need to clean.

My family members and I don't
share our cell phones. I  use
disinfecting wipes on my cell
phone.

My brother reminded me to wear
gloves and a mask when I pump
gas at a convenience store.

I hope my new anti-virus ideas
can be helpful to other people.
I pray often and try to stay safe
during this COVID-19 Pandemic!

I DIDN'T MISS CHURCH!

Virtual Church

https://www.newspressnow.com

NOTE: PLEASE OVERLOOK THE FONT
ISSUE ON THIS BLOG!

I did pay attention to the news about the novel Coronavirus being in foreign countries. I wasn't concerned
about America yet. I definitely became concerned when  COVID-19 victims were mentioned on the American TV news in early March. Then a COVID-19 was discovered in my state. Well, I was
alarmed when the number of victims
had tripled in America and my state
by the 2nd week in March.

Our schools and colleges were closed and local restaurants were
only doing take out.

https://www.wavy.com

My Mom advised me that she was staying home ( she is 86 years old).
She said she could still be a Christain but use COMMON SENSE by staying home! I agreed! I'm 68 years old
and a wise old Christian too!

I attend a megachurch. Someone
in my church would have that
"Virus". I believe there would
be a member with the "Virus"
that would come to church.
This person would want prayer
and healing. This person could
pray over their own self at home
and receive healing at home!
I have faith in healing but,
I shall not, tempt the Lord!

MATTHEW 4: 1, 6-7

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
6 Satan said to Him ( JESUS), “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
‘He ( GOD) shall give His angels charge over you...
7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”

Our Governor announced a " Stay At Home"order recently.

https://kfor.com

The number of COVID-19 victims
kept multiplying daily!  Public
Health officials said to avoid crowds with more than 10 people and practice social distancing. These rules would include churches too. A number of churches (including my church) decided to hold "Virtual Church ".
The church websites advised its members what time to log in on Sundays. I enjoyed the "Virtual
Church" service Sunday. I sat down, grabbed  my pen, note pad and Bible, just like I would do if I was sitting on my church pew.

I'll admit that feel like I have been living in a bubble. This bubble suddenly burst open. Life has suddenly become like being a science fiction movie and the Apocalypse has arrived! I'm exhaling often, praying daily, and coping the best I can!

SENIOR LADY COVID-19 WISDOM!

National Preparedness Month.

https://www.energy.gov

Senior friends, yes, I am staying home!
I'll admit that I was going out to get
groceries or to buy take out dinners two or three days a week.  Now, things
have gotten out of hand! The number
of people in my state with COVID-19
has tripled! Our governor has issued
"STAY AT HOME" order!

See Which States and Cities Have Told Residents

to Stay at Home

https://www.nytimes.com

I have no problem obeying this order.
I was going to cut back on the travel outside of my home anyway.
I am a senior in fairly good health
but I am not a fool! I don't have to be burned with fire to know its HOT!
I have hand sanitizer, a reuse mask,
and gloves to wear when I pick up
medicine or go to the grocery store.

I used to cook a scratch meal on Sundays. Now, I cook every day!
I cook quick meals like pasta,
chili, and casseroles. I can get
three meals out of these meals
and don't need a lot of meat
added.

I am checking on my Mom daily and calling friends I lost contact with.
I call, email, or text them.

https://lifepod.com

I am making a "To Do" List of projects
to do every week. These projects are
chores I hated! I already had hobbies and crafts that  I liked to do. ! have already started seeds for my container
garden. I was wise and bought the plants and herbs for my container garden before the "Virus" became Pandemic!

https://www.forbes.com

My family made of a list of things we need in case of an emergency. We based the list on things we would buy
if we were "snowed in" or
experienced aftermath of tragic hurricane or tornado. The usual
hand sanitizer, toilet paper, bread, water, and canned goods were necessities. Fresh meats sold out fast
in my local grocery stores. A few stores have early hours just for Seniors.
This was a very smart move that I
appreciated so much!!

https://www.usnews.com

I "Thank God",  every day that
I wake up and realize I do not have symptoms of COVID-19. I say a
prayer for victims with the "Virus".
I have to limit the hours I spent
listening to the updates about
COVID-19. Hearing the numbers
increase daily can be unnerving.
I try to press on with daily life
and keep the faith!
