SENIOR LADY: MULTIPLIES PLANTS!! 🌵🌵

Image
CHRISTMAS CACTUS I usually asked my son to buy me a Poinsettia  or Christmas cactus for one of my Christmas  gifts each  year. He decided to get a Christmas  cactus  last Christmas.  I love  this plant because  it looks exotic. M y cactus usually dies  within  six months. I search online for best  method to  use for plant care. I try to  follow the  advice given by the gardeners. I  am still unable to  keep my c actus alive for an extended period  of time. I decided to place my Christmas cactus outside this year. I hoped nature would improve my chances of keeping it alive longer. It receives part shade and it has doubled in size.   I decided take advantage of this new growth.  I'll  use cuttings to multiply this plant. I'll have  baby  cactus plants  on hand in case the mother  plant  dies in the future. The mother Christmas  cactus  will  be b...

SENIOR LADY: STORMS SCARE MY DOG!

Image
I bought my dog Milo six years ago. A guy was at the store trying to sell his puppies. They were Jack Russell and Dachshund  mixed. There were  many colors of the puppies to choose from. My son picked a  brown one who  wasn't shy and cuddled  under his arm.  My research showed that Milo was a breed of designer dog called, " Jackshund."  I must  point out  that Milo is very smart, trainable, and energetic.  There  is a Facebook group of  people who own  Jackshund dogs. I joined the  group. T here are beautiful images of these  dogs uploaded weekly. Milo was a sweet puppy but he loved  to destroy every toy that I bought him. I stopped buying dog toys. I decided to  see  if he would like a ball. The challenge  was buying a ball that would fit his small  mouth.  His head was shaped like the  Dachshund. The blue hand ball seemed to fit  perfectly. Playing fetch with my son becam...

SENIOR LADY: CHEAP PLANTS THAT GROW FAST!

CALIBRACHOA I have a few annual plants that I must have  in  my flower garden.  They are Dusty Miller,  Red Begonia, and Coleus.  I could only find  Dusty Miller in 5 inch cups  this year.  I have  learned to be  careful when buying the Dusty  Miller plants. I must pay attention to the tag in the pot.   Their  silvery fuzzy leaves resemble  Lamb's  Ear.  Last year I bought the Lambs Ear  by mistake.  The Lambs Ear plant has some medicinal properties. Some herbalist  grow it  in their herbal gardens.  I love the  Begonia  and Coleus plants because  they come in colorful varieties. I buy  three varieties of  each plant to add to  my container garden.  These three  types of plants grow as perennials  in very warm climates. A lady in the garden center showed me two of her favorite plants. She said they were hardy and cheap. Both of these ...

RAINWATER MAKES IT GROW!

Image
I have been gardening for over 20 years. I'll admit I learned some secrets through trial and error. My neighbor had a large garden in his backyard. Some years he had a very good yield. He would muddle over why his yield each year wasn't  consistent. I finally figured out why his yield  was inconsistent. God's rainwater had to be plentiful in order for me to have a great yield  in my flower and vegetable garden. My yield was poor when there was a summer drought. No amount of city water from my garden  hose improved my yield. Organic soil and organic fertilizer didn't guarantee that I would have a bounty of flowers and vegetables. The combination of lots of  rain water, organic soil and organic  fertilizer boosted my yield. My state hasn't experienced a  drought  this summer. As a  matter of fact, we've  had  several bouts of flooding.  I had to  drain excessive water from some of  the  containers in my garden. I a...

The local stores have this sale  at end  of the summer seasons.  I will be able to  replenish  my office supplies.  I need to  have  them  on hand for my next craft project. I also need to get new loose ring note books. I use them  for taking notes in my classes.  They are available at bargain prices during  school day sales. There were no purple notebooks available at my local stores. I'll keep looking for purple books when  I go to the mall. I did settle for a couple of notebooks with a few mauve colored ( bluish purple ) hearts and strawberries. WEEK 2  I had just purchased a new bedroom dresser. The top of it was bare because I didn't have any fancy items to display on it....
