LADY: PURPLE VALENTINE LOVE!

 

I remember when Valentine's Day colors were 

just red and white. I was able to recycle my

red and white Christmas decor.  I saved 

all of my red and white ribbons, lace,

garland, and berry picks for Valentine's Day.

These embellishments were added to

wreaths, T-shirts, and cards.

The retail stores have shades for pink, red, and purple

 on their Valentine's Day decor, cards,and clothing.  

I am glad this is the recent trend. I love the color purple. I no longer feel uncomfortable when I wear purple clothes and accessories on Valentine's Day.

  I was happy to find a scarf, pair of socks, and a gift

 bag with purple hearts and letters.

I will probably treat myself to a gorgeous bouquet 

of purple flowers. This arrangement will include 

purple roses, irises, lavenders, carnations, asters,

hyacinth, and daisies. I make sure Bells of Ireland 

are mixed in. They have a lovely fragrance.

SENIOR LADY: FOOD OF LOVE: VALENTINE'S DAY, #2

The meals I listed in, Senior Lady: 

Food of Love: Valentine's Day, 

are easy to prepare. Most of

the ingredients aren't expensive.

The T-bone steak will be costly.

However, it'll cost much less than

 a steak dinner at a restaurant.

Here are the recipes for some 

of the entees and desserts

for "Man Food."

RANCH CHEESY POTATOES 

NEED: 

(2) Cans Sliced Potatoes,

(Drained, well)

Small Onion, 

 (thinly sliced)

3-4 oz bag, Real Bacon Pieces,

1/2 Cup Ranch Dressing, 

1 Cup Mild Cheddar Cheese, 

(Shredded)

1-2 Tablespoons Dried Chives,

(For Garnish)

Preheat oven 400 temp.

In large bowl, mix

potatoes, onions, ranch

dressing, & bacon pieces.

Place the ingredients in

greased 9x9 pan/dish.

Bake 25-30 minutes.

Sprinkle cheese on

potatoes. Broil 2-3

minutes. Garnish with

chives.

TIPS: 

** DON'T OVER BAKE THE

POTATOES TO AVOID GREASY TASTE.

** DON'T USE SHARP CHEESE TO AVOID 

GREASY TASTE.

** PARSLEY OR PAPRIKA OK 

FOR GARNSH

SAUSAGE LASAGNA 

NEED: Small Batch

6 Cooked Lasagna Noodles

1/2 Mild Bulk Italian Sausage 

Small Bell pepper, chopped

Small onion, chopped 

24 oz Pasta Sauce 

8 oz Shredded Mozzarella Cheese 

(Reserve 1/2 Cup for topping)

Preheat oven 375 temp. In skillet,

 cook sausage,onions, & peppers.

 Drain well.  Stir in pasta sauce. 

Grease 9x9 pan/dish. Cut each noodle

in half for 9 noodles. Layers:

Place 3 noodles side by side,

in pan. Spread sauce evenly over 

noodles. Top with cheese. Then

repeat process until 3 layers

lasagna in pan/dish. Cover with 

foil. After 30 minutes, uncover 

& top with cheese. Bake 10 minutes 

or until lasagna bubbly & cheese is 

light  brown.

EASY MAC & CHEESE

1/2 BOX MACARONI 

(8 oz, cooked, drained) 

3 Tablespoons Butter

3 Tablespoons  Flour,

( All Purpose)

1 Cup Medium Sharp Cheddar

( Shredded or Cubed)

2 Cups Whole Milk

In skillet melt butter, on

medium heat. Sprinkle in 

flour while whisking until 

smooth. Slowly whisk in milk.

Remove from heat after sauce

comes to boil &  has thickened.

Add cheese & whisk until the

cheese sauce is smooth. Place

Mac and Cheese in buttered 

8 inch casserole dish. Garnish

with Paprika. Let stand 5 minutes 

before serving.

TIPS:

**USE YOUR FAVE CHEESE,

REMEMBER EXTRA SHARP 

CAN CHANGE TEXTURE.

** CAN BAKE & TOP WITH  

EXTRA CHEESE.

** ADD MORE MILK IF NECESSARY 

FOR EXTRA CREAMY SAUCE.

SENIOR LADY: SECRET FRAGRANCE PROFILE!

Several years ago, I was a perfume oil sales

 person.  The perfume oil company I worked

 for taught a class on perfume classification.

We learned:

PERFUME TYPES:

Eau de Cologne

Eau de Parfum

Eau de Toilette

Perfume Oil 

FRAGRANCE CLASSIFICATION:

Floral 

Oriental

Woody 

Fresh 

Members in the class dabbed on perfume 

samples. Each member helped each other 

develop the a fragrance profile. We found 

out which perfume notes worked best 

with our body chemistry.  This useful

information created great sales people.

We could help our customers purchase

perfume oils that enhanced their body 

chemistry.  

I later discovered that some perfume's

 notes can be altered by a person's body 

chemistry. I bought perfumes that smelled 

great in the bottle. However, the scent

had medicinal/ antiseptic odor after 

I put it on my body.  I gave these 

perfumes way to friends.  

The information I learned about 

perfume types was very helpful.

I could buy lightly scented perfumes

 for everyday use. The perfumes with

strong long-lasting scents could be 

worn for special occasions, 

Eventually, I kept things simple.

I just bought perfumes the gave 

me the most compliments from 

people.  Perfumes with Oriental 

and Woody notes worked best 

with my body chemistry.

I buy designer perfumes when

they are on sale. They can cost 

a lot depending on brand name 

and design  of the perfume

bottle or decanter.  I did

find a perfumer online that

 sells designer body oils. She 

let's me choose:

Refillable, Spray or Roll-on 

Bottle size:

2 oz, 4 oz, 8 oz

The perfume oils are made with 

quality base oils and notes. Only

a small amount is needed since 

the fragrance last a long time.

 

 

SENIOR LADY: FOOD OF LOVE, VALENTINE'S DAY!

 I love to cook and bake.   My food servings  have changed.

I no longer have a family of four to cook for.  The "empty

nester" now describes my persona. I only prepare 

large meals during the holidays.

I can focus my attention on Valentine's Day.

This year I want to prepare a delicious meal 

for my Significant Other. This meal will 

include nice wine and  healthy sized entree 

 and dessert. I am still planning my menu.
