SENIOR LADY: STACK PLANTER UPDATE!
I was so happy that my local dollar store
had plenty of stackable planters in stock.
I was anxious to get them home. I set aside
a day to work on getting them filled with
plants. I was only able to get a stack of
six done. I had unexpected visitors and it
rained in the afternoon. Two days later,
the weather cleared up. I was finally able
to finish filling up the other planters. The
stackable planters required about 32 ounces
of quality potting soil. The total cost for the
potting soil was about twenty-four dollars.
I spent about forty five dollars for the stackable
planters. I paid four dollars each for the first
batch of veggies and herbs. I was very happy
when my local big box garden center had
discount prices. My second batch of veggies
and herbs cost less three dollars each.
The plants and herbs looked pitiful for the
first week. I kept them watered but they
continued to look pitiful.
My town got a full day of heavy rain last week. The
next day, we got a full day of sunshine. All of the
herbs and other plants in my stackable planters
perked up. Once again, there's proof that God's
rain water works best. Water from the water
hose is good maintenance to keep my garden
plants alive.
I went ahead and harvested some Swiss
Chard and Spinach. I stir fried these
greens and used them as my side dish.
There was enough purple and green
romaine lettuces to use for a toss salad
this week.
Harvesting veggies from my own garden
gives me a great feeling. My friends and
relatives comment on how healthy my
garden looks. These comments keep me
motivated to keep up my hard work.
I'll keep on doing my weekly watering
and weeding regardless of how hot the
weather is.
