SENIOR LADY: EASY NEW YEAR'S WREATH PROJECT!
I usually make wreaths for each holiday. I looked on
the shelf in my storage room. I was very surprised to
discover that I didn't have a wreath for New Year's
Day!
I stopped at a discount store near my house. They had
three shelves full of Christmas items marked fifty
percent off. I spotted gold and silver garland on the
shelves. A craft idea came to my mind. I would make
a gold, silver, and black wreath. I could use the pretty
garland for my craft. I also needed black garland
or ribbon.Their Halloween decor was not available.
I checked their party supplies section. The black
tablecloths were in stock. Black party garland, ribbon,
and crepe streamers were not available. I already had
wreath frames on hand. I only had three days to
complete this wreath project
New Year's Day Wreath:
ITEMS NEEDED:
3 in Black Ribbon, 25 yards
Tools:
Scissors
Ruler
Tacky glue (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
I cut the garland into 24 inch strips for ease
in wrapping around the frame. My wreath
frame had 4 rows. I started wrapping the gold
garland around the two outside rows. I tied
the ends of the garland together into a small
knot when completing each row. The knot
was only visible at the back of the frame.
I wrapped the silver garland around the
two inner rows.
My local store didn't have black ribbon. So,
I made a bow using a black tablecloth. I cut
a 6 inch by 14 inch strip for the bow. I folded
the strip in half so the bow would look fuller.
I was able to make this New Year's Day with
materials that cost less than $10.00. Buying
Christmas decor that was marked down
made the wreath economical. I think my
New Year's Day wreath looks great. I'll look
for black ribbon soon to replace my table
cloth bow.
TIPS:
** Ends of garland could be secured with glue.
I didn't have any on hand.
** Black garland could be mixed with the
gold & silver garlands for a festive look.
** Gold, Silver, & Black mesh could be used
on the wreath also.
