SENIOR LADY: STORMS SCARE MY DOG!

I bought my dog Milo six years ago. A guy

was at the store trying to sell his puppies.

They were Jack Russell and Dachshund

mixed. There were  many colors of the

puppies to choose from. My son picked a

brown one who wasn't shy and cuddled

under his arm.

My research showed that Milo was a breed

of designer dog called, " Jackshund." I must

point out that Milo is very smart, trainable,

and energetic. There is a Facebook group of

people who own Jackshund dogs. I joined the

group. There are beautiful images of these

dogs uploaded weekly.

Milo was a sweet puppy but he loved

to destroy every toy that I bought him.

I stopped buying dog toys. I decided to

see if he would like a ball. The challenge

was buying a ball that would fit his small

mouth.  His head was shaped like the

Dachshund. The blue hand ball seemed

to fit perfectly. Playing fetch with my son

became his passion. I must also point out

that Milo is very smart, trainable, and very

energetic.

Thunderstorms and holiday fireworks

didn't bother Milo when he was still

a puppy. He was calm if he was sitting

near the family.  He seemed to became

upset after age two. He would dash and

hide under the bed and not come out. The

solution was to keep him out of  bedrooms

 during thunderstorms and fireworks. Milo

also trembled and panted during these events.

The family couldn't calm him down. My son made

him a  tent using large towels.  It is set up near his

bed.  Milo stays under the tent until the noise stops.

One day I saw a TV ad  for doggie ear muffs.

The dog in the ad was very calm when he

was wearing them. I was skeptical but I was

desperate to help Milo. I did search online for

more details about the doggie ear muffs. They

ranged in price from $10-$60. Most of these ear

muffs were rated with four stars, regardless of

their price.  These ratings helped me decide on

price  for less than $20 for ear muffs. I ordered

a pair of the doggie ear muffs, so they would

arrive before July 4th holiday. This would be

the ideal time to test them on Milo.

My son placed them on Milo. We were amazed

because he was very calm during a night filled

with fireworks in the neighborhood. I sent

message to the company praising their doggie

ear muffs.

I have advice for dog owners. Dogs scared

during storms and fireworks, may benefit

from doggie ear muffs. They cancel out

the sound, protect their ears, and also

calm the dogs down.
