SENIOR LADY: REPURPOSE.CHRISTMAS: VALENTINE'S DAY!

Now, I am wise enough to save Christmas tree

trimmings and decorations. I realized that

I can use these items to create crafts for

other seasons. Red, white, and purple

colored items can be used for upcoming

holidays.  I have to decide which  holiday

decor  I am using them for when I start

my craft projects.  The red and white

colored gift wrap can be used for the

Valentine's Day and Patriotic holidays.

The craft making possibilities are endless:

Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter seasons

The Christmas colored items could be mixed

and matched with other colors to fit the desired

holiday or season you're working on.

Now, I'm researching craft ideas for

Valentine's Day.  There were online

images of  hearts,  envelopes, cherubs,

flowers, and wreaths. Some crafters even

used buffalo plaid and animal print when

creating Valentine's Day projects.

REPURPOSE CHRISTMAS FOR VALENTINE'S DAY:

BOWS:

There are two red & white bows on our porch.

They were part of our Christmas decorations.

These bows will be repurposed because they

are the traditional colors for Valentine's Day.

Therefore, they will be left up until Valentine's

Day. My dilemma will be which holiday storage

bin to place them in.

HEARTS:

NEED:

Heart Template

Cardboard or Heavy weight Paper

Recycled Red and White Gift Wrap

Tools:

Pencil

Scissors

Directions:

Print out template. Cut it out and lay it

on to the white side of the gift wrap. Cut

out several hearts using various colors

and designs on gift wrap.

TIPS:

**Paper hearts can be glued on to

cardboard, heavy weight paper

& foam. Just cut the item into

shape of a heart.

** Make hearts in 2 or 3 sizes since

they can be used on wreaths,

clothes pins, large paper clips,

and ribbons. These hearts can

also be ornaments.

**Heart Template not necessary if

able to draw hearts free handed.

TUSSIE MUSSIE/PAPER CONE

NEED:

Recycled gift wrap (Valentine's Day colors)

8 1/2 Inch  X 11 1/2 Inch, Heavyweight paper

Ribbon or pipe cleaner for hanger

Glue gun & glue sticks

Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

Cut out 8 1\2 inch x 11 1\2 inch piece from gift wrap.

Turn gift wrap over to white side. Place your heavy

weight paper on top of the gift wrap.

While holding both pieces of paper, make a paper

cone. Make sure front of gift wrap is visible on

outside, when making cone. Secure the ends of

cone with hot glue.

Make hanger for paper cone:

Measure 14 inches of ribbon or pipe cleaner. Fold

it in half and glue ends together with glob of glue.

Glue hanger on back of paper cone, in center. Repeat

process if you want to make several paper cones in

 many colors.

Valentine's Day flowers like Roses, Mums,

& Berry picks can be placed inside your paper cone

 now.

TIPS:

** Written instructions & videos for making paper

cone available online.

** All purpose white glue can be used to seal

paper cone if glue gun unavailable.

** Acrylic Sealer can be applied to paper cones for

 glossy finish.

** Embellishments like bows &  strips of ribbon can

 be added the paper cone(s).
