SENIOR LADY: JULY 4TH FLORAL CRAFTS

I have always loved celebrating July 4th. 

Our family would go to fireworks show 

at the fairgrounds. A few years later, 

my sons wanted to enjoy fireworks at 

home or with neighborhood friends. 

My husband always loved showing off 

his grilling skills. Our family ate burgers, 

hot dogs, steak, and chicken legs. We were

 so full, that everybody wanted to take a 

nap.  One year, my husband included a smoked 

turkey with the celebration meal. I made my

annual red ,white, and blue Jell-O poke cake. 

 It was so refreshing during hot weather.We 

ate it right before we started the fireworks.


I'm retired now so, I have more time to devote

to my craft hobbies. I'm anxious to plan each

years July 4th yard decor.  I have moved to an

 area that has a lot of senior citizens. So, my

style of July 4th decor has changed. I don't 

have a yard to decorate anymore. I focus 

more on decorating the door and porch.

I also do tablescapes and centerpieces for

tables in my dining and living rooms. My

first projects entail creating decorations 

for the inside of my home. 


Here are details for first project:


JULY 4TH FLORAL BOUQUET:


NEED:


RED FLOWERS (Faux):

(1)Rose Stem, (1) Mum Stem, (1 ) Baby's Breath 

BLUE FLOWERS (faux):

(2)Hydrangea stems

WHITE FLOWERS (faux):

(2)Rose Stems 

Patriotic foil pick, 16 inches

Clear Pot Belly Vase, 7 inches

Patriotic dinner napkin:

13 inches x 13 inches






 





INSTRUCTIONS:   

Remove floral tags from stems. Arrange the flowers

White on left, red in middle, & blue on right (whatever 

order you prefer). Stick patriotic pick in back center

area. Hold the bundle of flowers tightly. Wrap the 

napkin around the bundle. Tuck them inside the

vase. Secure napkin with tape if necessary.





 








This was a quick project after your supplies
were gathered together. Deciding what order
to arrange the  flowers were challenging. The 
traditional order is red, white, and blue. But,
most of the floral arrangements I saw online 
were all mixed up. I guess  the order isn't very
important after the flowers are bundled up.



TIPS:

**Any variety of faux patriotic flowers
will work.

**Any clear glass vase over 7 inches is ok.
Sturdy vase necessary so arrangements 
won't topple over.

**Patriotic bow or ribbon can be added
to enhance the arrangement. I didn't 
have any ribbon. I enhanced my decor
with the patriotic napkin.

RAINWATER MAKES IT GROW!

I have been gardening for over 20 years. I'll admit I learned some secrets through trial and error. My neighbor had a large garden in his backyard. Some years he had a very good yield. He would muddle over why his yield each year wasn't  consistent. I finally figured out why his yield  was inconsistent. God's rainwater had to be plentiful in order for me to have a great yield  in my flower and vegetable garden. My yield was poor when there was a summer drought. No amount of city water from my garden  hose improved my yield. Organic soil and organic fertilizer didn't guarantee that I would have a bounty of flowers and vegetables. The combination of lots of  rain water, organic soil and organic  fertilizer boosted my yield. My state hasn't experienced a  drought  this summer. SUMMER DRESSES 4 SENIOR LADIES # 1

  I used to laugh at my mother when she said that dresses were cooler than shorts in the summer. She has gotten the last laugh a lot lately. I guess my mother does know best sometimes. She was right. A dress was cooler to me, especially during a hot flash!! I do not wear sleeveless dresses in the summer without a cover-up.I am like most senior women.
