TRENDY & COOL SENIOR LADY!

Image
hip2save.com I did the "Big Chop" to my hair years ago. A hot summer and experiencing menopause at the same time did me in! I  got relief by cutting my hair short, wearing cotton summer dresses, and  lounging in rooms  with plenty of air conditioning.  The trauma of menopause is over but I still hate  feeling hot.  I'm still wearing my short afro  hairstyle because it's cool and very low maintenance.   A great sulfate-free shampoo/conditioner and hair gel are all I need. Here are my go-to hair products: https://www.amazon.com I stopped using hair dye a few years ago. I have learned  to love my salt and pepper shade of grey! Who knew that grey hair would be a current trend! I guess I am a Trendy  Senior Lady!! Especially Yours . Sometimes I get bored with this  Afro  hairsyle.  That's why I fell in love with the Taper Style hair cut. I got  frustr...

ENJOYING NATURE IN MY YARD!

Image
MY CONTAINER GARDEN I love spring and summer because I can sit on my porch and enjoy a quiet moment or two.   I get up before my family arises and the rat race begins.  My first cup of coffee goes down so smooth and I can sip as loud as I want. There are two  doves sitting on the power lines in front of my house. They visit often and  I have named them Abraham and Sarah. I have already put out my hummingbird feeder which  I  have filled with sugar water.  I used to buy that red stuff until I read it was bad for the hummingbirds.  The author stated that the red dye  that was  added to attract these  birds was harmful to them.  I started making  my own formula: 1/2 cup spring water  1/8 cup  sugar (heaping) I like to buy the mini feeders because  I can replenish them before the sugar solution spoils.  They are also easier to clean.  The package also inclu...

SENIOR LADY HOBBY QUEEN!

https://www.joann.com Note: Please excuse the font problem! I'll admit this year I have been less motivated to get out of my house.   I'm not sick because I've been  blessed. My aggravating aches  and pains are gone.  I say a prayer  if they flare-up and keep on moving.  My mom is 86 years old and she is  still somewhat active. She can still drive to church, grocery store,  and  appointments. I admire her spunk  and I  can't  let my 86 year old mother outdo me!  My friends have called me to go on trips or help  them with their volunteer work.  I declined this  time.  I decided that spending 4-6 hours on a tour bus was no longer exciting. The volunteer jobs that my friends take part in are stressful. Most of these jobs  are not  in my community anyway.  Making holiday gift baskets for people in Rest Homes is more my speed.  I meet friends for lunch an...

SENIOR LADY STYLE, SPRING FLING!

Image
BestProducts.com I'm happy to see spring flowers blooming.  My Japanese Magnolia  tree is full of lovely  mauve-pink flowers. https://readytogrowtrees.com  There is a nest in my pear tree so birds are chirping away  near my window.  My deck and car are  covered with that green stuff called pollen.  This is always a bittersweet sign that spring has  arrived. It's a necessary occurrence so I won't complain! https://www.vox.com Observing spring's glory has prompted me to pull  out my spring & summer clothes. Some of them are mighty tired and worn out looking.  I need to see what's trending this spring. I have gotten a few department store ads in the mail already.  I browsed through some of them while  I sipped on my morning coffee. Most of the styles in the women's section are classics.  I see jumpsuits are back in style. The upgrades to the jumpsuits look pret...

WHAT'S YOUR BAG?

https://afonie.com NOTE: PLEASE OVERLOOK  PROBLEMS WITH FONT AND COLOR ISSUES! I must admit that I fell prey to the designer handbag  craze in the '70s. I was a young mother with two  young boys at that time. I asked my husband  to get the designer handbag for my Christmas gift.  I wrote down the name "Aigner" for him on  paper so would have it in his wallet.  I didn't   trust him to go shopping without it.  He called me at worked and he  sounded  anxious. He asked me if I  realized that  the "Aigner" handbag cost $100! I answered in a  soft voice, "Yes".  He said "Ok" and pointed  out  this would be my only Christmas gift. I said that this was fine since we still  had   the boys Christmas gifts to buy.  My 70's handbag looked like this! http://www.onlyfashionbags.com I carried this handbag every day.  I broke the   han...
